Spetses
Leaving the rocky mountains of Hydra, you come to an island which is flat and green - a complete change of scenery. Like Hydra, Spetses is well known for
her history , her cosmopolitan atmosphere and a chance to enjoy exciting nightlife and beautiful food. Unlike Hydra, Spetses is surrounded by beautiful sandy
beaches to be explored either by sailing around the island or by horse-drawn carriages, the official taxi. The old harbor remains unchanged and craftsmen still
build wooden caiques and fishing boats in the traditional way. Beautiful sandy beaches particularly on the south side like Aghioi Anargyri. Just off the island of
Spetses, a smaller island, Spetsopoula, belonging to the Greek shipping magnate Niarchos. Spetses is situated close to the Peloponnese mainland and the
mainland town of Porto Heli is situated exactly opposite.
